A one-page, two-sided flyer about a Confederate hero named Santos
Benavides, is posted with this notice. Benavides was from Texas, and, with his brothers, fought valiantly for the
Confederate cause. He began as an officer in the 33rd Texas Cavalry and fought with such bravery and led with such
competence that he eventually assumed command of the regiment. He was later promoted to the rank of colonel and formed
Benavides Partisan Rangers, with which he also distinguished himself in the Confederate cause. He was the highest
ranking Hispanic to serve in either the Confederate or U.S. forces, during Lincoln’s War.
The flyer also tells that most Hispanics, in the U.S., fought for the
Confederacy. This fact, and the story of Santos Benavides are little known today, because those that won Lincoln’s
War have omitted this information from the history snippets now taught in most tax-supported elementary and high
schools, as well as in the politically correct, but inaccurate, universities.
This is our opportunity to publicize the Hispanic-Confederate
connection. There are many in our communities that will be interested in it and proud of Confederate heritage, as
a result of learning it. The information will win friends for our Cause.
We expect to have a Spanish-language version of this flyer available
and posted on this web site within a reasonable time. In the meanwhile, put your organization’s name and mail
address at the bottom left side of the flyer’s second page, print it on your computer, reproduce it at a printer’s,
or on a copy machine, and distribute it. Our Cause will benefit from telling this bit of history.
