Bothered and bewildered by J. A. Davis
Every so often the number of news items and sundry comments
appertaining thereto bother me. They also bewilder me because they just ain't right.
The old Georgia expression "It ain't right but that's the way it is"
sort of captures the accompanying bewilderment.
Let's start out with a recent trend that I see escalating every day.
The once good relationship between Christians and Jews
is deteriorating. Much of this is caused by the most recent attacks on
Christian symbols and holidays, specifically, the attempts to eliminate
Christmas from our calendars and vocabularies.
This ain't right. The truth is the average Jew has no part in any
effort to curtail or eliminate Christian values. To the contrary, leading Jewish clergy
are deeply concerned that censorship of Christian traditions will
ultimately lead to a much wider siege on Jewish traditions.
For the first time in my recent memory, the
Jewish religious community is speaking out and putting the blame
exactly where it belongs, to extreme groups like the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) which has for
sometime been engaged in campaigns to remove religious symbols, prayers in public and Christian holidays.
That's not all, they have been engaged in the leadership of promoting gay
marriage, defaming the bible belt including repudiation of Confederate history and symbols.
Some Jews believe the leadership of the ADL to be non-religious while
building their fifty million dollar annual budget around contributions
from Jews who have little knowledge of their real activities.
Do you remember Marc Rich? He is the man who was engaged in all sorts
of anti-American financial activities who was caught and found guilty and
imprisoned. In his last act as president, Bill Clinton pardoned Rich. How did this
happen? The ADL made a $100,000 contribution to a special interest of Bill Clinton. The ADL
has admitted they were well rewarded by Marc Rich.
Rich immediately headed for Israel where
he has since operated and has been reportedly engaged in the brokerage of items detrimental to the best
interests of the United States.
The religious Jewish community in America is not proud of some of the
antics of the ADL. They are now beginning to speak out, and we applaud them.
My bewilderment continues though because you're not going to hear these
stories through your regular media sources. They are totally cowered by the ADL. We
hear talk shows who lay the blame on the ACLU for the problems related to attacks
on Christianity. That is only partially right. The real culprit is the outfit they constantly give cover for, the ADL.
Having spent a lot of years in the broadcast industry I know about
caution when it comes to covering a story. I also know about cowardice when
they refuse to report the truth for fear of reprisal. It is high time
that we citizens start calling the hand of these enablers of
organizations like the ADL whose main ambition is to destroy the values
we hold dear. The efforts to cover up are in my view as harmful to
Constitutional liberty as the dastardly acts of the perpetrators.
At this season of the year it is important we all try to salve our
bothers and bewilderment with more positive thoughts. With that in mind here is my wish for all people of good will,
regardless of your faith.
"Faith in God gives meaning and purpose to
human life. The brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations." ---The Jaycee Creed
