Forget Party! Vote for REAL Conservatives, by J. A. Davis
"Some men change their party for the sake of their principles; others their principles for the sake of
their party." ---Winston Churchill
Previously, I have written about the charades taking place among the so-called 'conservative'
Republicans in both Georgia and these United States.
This isn't a pleasant task for me. As many of you know, I had much to
do with the development and first victories of the Republican party in Georgia. More importantly perhaps is my
involvement in the development of the Southern Strategy which has constantly provided victories for
Republicans nationally since the sixties.
A little empathy (putting yourself in my shoes) may help in
understanding my utter disappointment in those that have followed in the leadership of both the state and the national party.
You may remember my continuing admonition that 'Republican' no longer
means 'conservative.' To the contrary, so many liberal Democrats have crossed over to the Republican party in
order to preserve their seats in the changing political atmosphere, it is difficult to discern the difference between Republicans and
Democrats.
Just this past week the Republican House leadership caved in to 25 RINOs, (Republican in name only) from the
Northeast. They gave up energy security represented by drilling in Alaska while entertaining a heating oil
subsidy for mostly the Northeast.
Some think the War Between the States ended in 1865. It rages on, only
in different ways and in different arenas. Big, intrusive government is still winning
buttressed by runaway Socialism from both Democrats and Republicans.
Worse, the GOP scuttled the budget cuts and continued unprecedented
spending----mostly pork barrel spending-----------that has no
Constitutional bearing. It really represents a phony form of graft
and corruption.
This sort of brings up the question of 'Why do we need Republicans who
tell us one thing and vote for another?' At least the liberal Democrats are truthful in pursuit of
their Socialistic goals. The results are the same.
Sometimes it's what they don't tell us that is the problem. Should we support someone who maintains it's OK to
defy the ruling of the Attorney General and the courts when it comes to revealing the state and tax payer involvement in such secrets as the
NASCAR and Superbowl bids involving Atlanta business interests?
Yet we continue to hear Georgia Republicans telling us they're not as
bad as the Democrats and need to be continued in power.
I think it is time for some real conservatives to emerge and I don't
care which party they belong to. Maybe it's a good time to forget the party name and
make a determination of who is the real conservative and who is the real leftie.
We may have to invent a new event so they can play off the tie.
We're not advocating how you or anyone else should vote. We are
emphatically saying you need to pay close attention to the real record of the candidates and make up your own mind.
This is particularly true of elections coming up in Georgia. We have a
lot of folks that will tell you they're conservative. Gosh, Hillary is even running around the country telling everyone how
conservative or middle of the road she is. Sure.
We at GHC plan to examine the records of certain candidates from both
parties and fully describe those records to you so you can make up your own mind.
We have issued Questionnaires to candidates for the General Assembly. Let's let their own words or lack
thereof (combined with their records, if any) be a guide as to how we each should individually vote.
This is just another way GHC can provide a service to the thousands who follow our
activities and website. We're grateful to have you and encourage your more active membership and participation.
We will be pointing out how certain legislators make nice talk to their
local folks while taking money and supporting outlandish spending to benefit the business interests of Atlanta.
In the near future, we will be addressing some of the other projects we
at GHC are involved in which are designed to preserve and protect the culture and heritage of Georgia, the South and these United States.
Forget the party. Find the real conservative and vote your own best
interests. That is being absolutely non-partisan concerning parties.
