Reading, Thinking & Frustrated, by J. A. Davis
Despite my somewhat limited eyesight, I love to read. Particularly
current opinion about the ongoing saga of human events.
The problem I have, and perhaps you as well, is this habit causes me to
think. That's dangerous. It often causes frustration from not being
able to reach out and strike a blow for sanity.
In order to let the steam off, I usually turn to the keyboard. I feel
like I need to share my frustration with someone, maybe you. I hope it won't injure your health.
This is not always fair since we at GHC are blessed with so many
wonderful thinkers and writers who deserve their place in line. I
refer to folks like Jim Dean, Frank Gillispie, Steve Scroggins,
Joan Hough, Lew Regenstein, Bill Vallante, Mike Crane, Billy Bearden,
Calvin Johnson and Michael Kilpatrick, plus more I should mention.
Today's frustration is that we are being badly tricked by an all
Republican national government and a strongly apportioned Republican state government.
Many think the Republicans are less liberal and more conservative than the Democrats.
That's where they've got a lot of folks fooled.
I would like for you to consider the records of folks like Sonny Perdue
on support
for Bush's illegal immigration polices, support of secrecy
in government, continued pandering to the downtown Atlanta crowd with big state
tax dollars no one really knows about and his administration's clear track toward diminishing Georgia history and
culture in favor of his unbalanced version of diversity. Plus that, he failed (miserably!) the
veracity test. Now he has the gall to suggest "heritage tourism" to market Southern states to tourists. He's even
trying to sell it to Southern Governors at their gathering this weekend.
Perdue needs primary opposition. There is none in sight. Despite
polls showing just a slight edge in approval, he is vulnerable and needs to
be engaged in topics such as those above which he wants to avoid. He
could be beaten by the right person with the right campaign.
Too bad Mike Crane is dedicated to running for the Georgia Senate. He
could give Sonny a run for his Atlanta money. Anyone who has taken the time to read Mike's position papers would know
he, more than anyone I know, could carry the message of the real conservatives in Georgia. It needs the spotlight
focus of a statewide race.
In a Republican primary it is possible that
half a million votes or less might prevail. Mike could go in with at
least 100,000 votes statewide. With proper exposure to
the Perdue weaknesses my bet is there are enough more votes to make an
interesting race. The key is turn-around votes. Every one taken from
Sonny is a gain of two.
Georgia currently has two pretenders for
U. S. Senators. There is nothing about either Saxby Chambliss or Johnny Isakson that resembles typical Georgia
thinking. They are totally motivated by the Bush-GOP idea of a new
empire aimed toward some sort of new world order.
This group has managed to outspend any comparable Democrat group over a
similar period. They make their adversaries look like pikers when it
comes to pork barrel spending. They have sold us out on CAFTA, immigration laws and
I predict Chambliss will take the lead in trying to establish what amounts to amnesty in the
so called Guest Worker Program.
Birds of a feather flock together...and these are foul fowl.
The philosophy that they're bad but they're
not as bad as the Democrats won't fly with me. It's time to filter out
all the "bads" in both parties, until we finally find someone who is
reasonably acceptable.
Now, when you have the time, and you might be up to handling your own
frustrations, I commend these two commentaries below to your
attention. Reading them may take a few minutes. They're like chicken
soup, they can't hurt and they might even help. They are:
DOT Office
of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization or Racial Profiling
For Dollar$ (Just the title scares me) by Michelle Makin
Pandering to Pandas In China, ( or how to bilk the tax paying public
out of more than two million) by Terrence Jefferey
Til next time. Try to stay cool.
