Are You There? Do You Care?

According to some recent statistics from performance tests by The National Assessment For Educational Progress, recently reported in a column by Pat Buchanan , hopes are dimming in America for any hope of maintaining our liberty, or even understanding what liberty is.

The performance tests represented a broad scale of academic achievements by high schoolers, 21,000 in all from 900 public and private schools.

Why do these figures represent peril for the American Republic and liberty? Because they show that very few know about the Republic and liberty, when nearly two thirds of high school seniors, 65%, can't read or comprehend anything like the U. S. Constitution.

They don't even get the chance in many schools where civics has been merged into some form of social studies.

Are you there? Do you care?

Obviously, not enough do as often less than 25% of our registered voters bother to vote in primary elections and less than half or thereabouts, even vote for president.

Does anyone care? 31% of high schoolers can't tell you who the Vice President is.

The old argument is the blacks and the Hispanics are pulling the averages down. The studies reveal this is true, but there are some pretty dumbed down whites prevalent in the study too.

Is anybody there? Not as many as you thought. 25% of white students drop out of school before they graduate. Double that for blacks and Hispanics. Does anybody care? Only 35% of all students can read at the high school level.

We hear a lot about apologizing for slavery up until the 1860's and the 13th Amendment. We have a form of slavery taking place in America today that portends a terrible future for the hopes of equal opportunity for any young American. The minds of our young people are to a large extent being enslaved. That is the most disturbing form of lost liberty and the individualism that once made America the unquestioned leader of the world.

The average IQ of a high school student in our country is around 100. Those with more than 120 stand a fair chance of success in a career field. Those with less are falling into a hopeless black hole that equates to the same thing as liberty lost thru intellectual slavery.

It wasn't too long ago some very wise gentleman of the black race had it figured out. Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver developed great opportunities for people of then, minorities, who didn't have the high IQ's for rocket science, but were well equipped to learn vocations and be active in the trades while often learning to run small businesses profitably.

From these opportunities grew a proud and productive community that existed in good harmony with all their neighbors. Gradually, their children began to yearn for better education, and think in terms of college or advanced technical education. Many have made proud contributions to business and industry. More importantly, they have made good patriotic citizens who thru faith, hope and hard work are an asset to their communities.

Changes took place in the 60's and beyond. The wisdom of Booker T. and G. W. Carver were pooh poohed by a new group establishing an industry of self-aggrandizing greed which has led us into the state we find ourselves today. No one, of whatever ethnicity can be proud of it. It is, back to slavery in a different context. It is color blind, as real history will reveal about all slavery, from the beginning. This time, the lost liberty will include blacks, whites, Hispanics and anyone else who falls through the sad academic statistics. Let's call it what it is, equal opportunity to fail and become more of a burden than society can support.

One goal of the Commutarians is to eliminate the middle class in America. Only the elite rich and the poor will emerge over a short span of time.
