Bingo! I found the money – Commentary by Jim Dean
Dear folks,
Below you will find the funding for fixing the immigration problem. The
unmatched Social Security monies the $7 billion would provide the fix up infrastructure funding and the continued
unmatched monies would keep it going. The $1.5 billion in unmatched Medicare money could also be specifically
used to recoup the huge losses all the border hospitals have incurred.
I think any proposal to use the immigrants own money to help pay for fixing the
problem would be very popular with the public. We need to get the wire transfer fee put back in to help fund
local enforcement, also. I would call it the illegal immigration tax, and up it to 15 or 20%. If anyone screamed
you could just scream back at them by showing them the economic impact numbers. When they say they don't care
about any of that...they have just given you permission to say that, "Well, I don't care about your problem,
either."

Release from Rep. Tom Tancredo
Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), a vocal proponent of stronger border security measures,
blasted the compromise as an open invitation for fraud. In a statement released on Thursday, Tancredo addresses
the fraud issue by saying:
"The Senate deal asks people who have broken the law for years "often using fraudulent documents” to provide
proof that they've lived here. I can guarantee that many of those fraudulent documents ”which law enforcement
hasn't been able to detect yet” will be used to obtain legal status."
Tancredo is right on this point. As noted by columnist Linda Chavez, millions of illegal aliens currently pay into
the Social Security system because they are using fraudulent Social Security cards.
In 2002 alone, the Social Security Administration reported it had collected $7 billion in payroll taxes and
$1.5 billion in Medicare taxes from workers who could not be matched with valid Social Security numbers.
