Immigration Reform On a Roll – Commentary by Jim Dean
Dear Legal Americans,
Those of you out there who have learned how to empower yourselves by
picking up the phone, faxing, or writing your Congresscritter to 'advise' them on how to do the right thing are
making all the difference. For those of you who have not, you are just passing the buck on this critical problem.
In the Numbers USA report below you will read that [Democratic Minority Leader Nancy ]
Pelosi let the Democrats go to vote how they wanted. Some of these immigration voice votes passed by large margin. The
Dems have cover on these votes (Repubs, too) as they can tell their constituents whatever they want. There is no actual voting record.
This shows they are growing more and more scared of voter retribution
back home. Once the Dems will not oppose immigration reform with party controlled block voting it will be hard
for the NeoCons, all wide open immigration proponents, to demand they back the Bush deceptive amnesty plan,
which the big biz crowd has really leaned on him for.
Y'all need to have an index card with your Congressman and both Senators'
contact info taped up by the phone. You can vote all year long people...as many times as you want. Don't throw
these votes away. Use them or lose them.
Thanks to all of the Rip van Winkles out there that are finally waking up.
We will have some work to do when the legislature goes into session.

You will also see the voting results on 12 amendments last night and descriptions of what will happen today.
Use that link (also from our Home page) all day long. We tend to update the Vote Day Action Center at least every 10 minutes.
Nearly everything you need can be found on that page all day.
BORDER FENCE PASSED IN HOUSE LAST NIGHT 260-159!
SANCTUARY CITIES PENALIZED BY VOICE VOTE
OTHER HELPFUL AMENDMENTS PASSED BY VOICE VOTE
You -- "the folks back home" -- were cited repeatedly yesterday as the reason the House of Representatives could not go on with business as usual. Our side beat back a united wall of rich business lobbyists. And we beat back the open-borders libertarians.
And it was because too many Members of Congress said they had to think about facing the folks back home over Christmas.
You have pounded them and pounded them with faxes, phone calls, letters to the editor, personal visits and attendance at town hall meetings. THEY FEEL YOUR PAIN! At least, they don't want to feel the pain that you might give them if they aren't careful in how they vote on immigration issues.
Here's maybe an even bigger sign that you are breaking through with your activism:
Democratic Leader Rep. Pelosi decided not to make this a Party loyalty vote. She released all Democrats to vote as they wished.
Even though the national Democratic Party leaders have been condemning almost anything that would slow down illegal immigration and have virtually declared their favor for open borders, Pelosi realized that she would be putting a lot of Democrats in competitive districts at a real disadvantage with the folks back home if she leaned on them to vote against tough enforcement measures.
Democrats so overwhelmingly backed some of the measures last night, that nobody even asked for a roll call vote.
All of you with Democratic Representatives especially need to pour on the pressure this morning and help them vote the right way.
We will not be able to keep you informed in a timely manner by email during the day because events will move too fast and because we just don't have the computer power to get to you any faster than four hours.
Please use the Vote Day Action Center page all day.
Thanks to all of you who gave the first VOTE DAY your best effort; let's do it again today,
-- ROY
