Minute Man Project needs support – Commentary by Jim Dean
Dear legal Americans,
The Minutemen are not taking the smear campaign lying down. They are doing what we call in the P.R. business 'doing a
180' on them (see letter below). This shows me they know how to fight. The calls need to go in to the ACLU that we heartlanders are aware of their smear attempt and will
deal with them accordingly, their being against homeland security.
The Minutemen are putting the authorities on notice that we will be watching very closely what they do. We should
also let the authorities know that any illegal or improper interference with the constitutional rights of the Minutemen will be dealt with in the
courts and the court of public opinion.
We are facing a test here...all of us. The Minutemen are going to the Mexican border
to represent those of us who realize that our homeland security there is a bad joke.
They are standing up to Mr. Fox and his co-presidente, Mr. Bush... and the sell out Arizona and California
congresscritters...and the pro-illegal-immigration lobby. If they try to muscle the Minutemen, and we just sit back and watch, it will kill any efforts
like this in the future. No one will bother to do this again if we leave these guys swinging in the breeze.
So each and every one of us is going to be making a personal choice to support or abandon these men in the field. I
truly hope we do not choose the latter. We have a shot here at kindling a major grass roots effort to embarrass the hell out of our phony protectors.
I suspect the powers that be are already trying to infiltrate a provocateur into the Minuteman group to create an
incident to 'prove' they are dangerous. That is how they usually deal with things like this, and they are really good at it. The ADL and SPLC will be
doing all they can to create an incident that they can broadcast nationwide. I hope the Minutemen are on their toes.
If we play our cards right, we can turn this thing around. We can have rotating state Minuteman squads
(this should be led by veterans) going to the border where we can keep this issue on the front page. When these people come home they can then do
local interviews.
We really need to have a webTV site up but I am sure the organizers have had their hands full. I urge you all to
start thinking of financially supporting multi-media web production for events like this. These volunteer groups like this just cannot add internally
controlled media on top of all the work load they already have.
To leverage the tremendous volunteer work of any group like the Minute Man Project, we need to have a standing web-tv
resource at the ready, as a defense against any tricks the authorities might try to play and to counter the smear campaigns of the pro-illegal-immigration
groups. Those on the front lines deserve this kind of support...professional support.
If you would like to help build such a web-tv presence, contact us at GHC.

Dear FBI,
I am one of the coordinators of the Minuteman Project, a grassroots organization of Americans who
will assemble under the First Amendment in Cochise County, Arizona from April 1 through 30 to conduct a political protest and rally in support of the
enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. We will also spend much of that 30 day period observing, and reporting to the appropriate law enforcement
agency, any suspected illegal activity where crossing over the U.S. international border into the United States is part of that illegal activity.
I am writing to complain that the ACLU has consistently attempted to interfere with the rights of
the volunteers of the Minuteman Project to peaceably assemble in Arizona. Also, the ACLU has repeatedly used libelous and slanderous rhetoric to
thwart the ability of U.S. citizens to assemble under the First Amendment, effectively dissuading some U.S. citizens from exercising their civil rights.
With the express purpose of depriving U.S. citizens of the rights to assemble and speak under
the First Amendment, I feel that the ACLU has maliciously engaged in consanguinity (aka "McCarthyism") by its pejorative references to volunteers for
the Minuteman Project as "vigilantes" and as persons who are "taking the law into their own hands."
The ACLU's witch-hunt mentality has seriously eroded the ability of me, and several thousand
other prospective participants, to freely assemble in Arizona under the First Amendment of the Constitution of The United States of America.
Through malicious harassment and intimidation, against U.S. citizens seeking to exercise their
rights to freely assemble, including threats of arrest and law suits (for alleged acts that no one
had committed, or intended to commit) the ACLU has effectively and illegally suppressed the
civil rights of fellow citizens.
I am requesting that all legal remedies and protections available to preserve the civil rights
under The Constitution of the United States of America to myself and those participating, or anticipating participation in, the Minuteman Project
political rally and assembly, be provided.
Sincerely Yours,
James W. Gilchrist - The Minuteman Project
