TOP DOWN TYRANNY GETS TRASHED – Commentary by Jim Dean

The populist grass roots movement gets another adrenalin shot from the Bush attempt to cram an illegal alien amnesty down America's throat despite widespread opposition even within the Republican party. The Washinton Times article below has the details.
The Georgia Heritage Coalition has watched with dismay as this top-down tyranny has infected Republican ranks as much as the Democrats. The special interests who support making traditional Americans into a minority in their own country, and forcing them to compete with third world labor rates here, have their hooks into the leadership of both parties.
Our sources within the Republican party are telling us that "acting President" Carl Rove has convinced Bush that conservative Repubs 'have no where to go' so he does not need to worry about 'losing their support to Howard Dean or John Kerry'. They are considered a captive constituency. The more that loyal conservatives see that they are being taken for granted the angrier they are becoming, and not at the Democrats either. We hear more and more talk about what a shame it is that we do not have a primary candidate running against him, one who would represent us for a change.
There is a similar top-down tyranny being crammed down our throats by the Republican leadership on the whole heritage issue agenda, of which immigration is only one item. Time and time again Republican leadership has shown that not only contemporary America is for sale to get minority votes, but American heritage is for sale cheap!! And once again, because the Democrats are even worse, the Repub gurus figure where are unhappy Repubs to go?
I can answer that for you. They are going to turn 'on' their Congressman to oppose not only the president's amnesty program, but also this whole top-down special interest tyranny that has become our daily bread. This is, in a way, like being ruled by the American Baath party.
These Congressman will be caught in a loyalty pinch. At stake is having Presidents Bush and Rove campaign for them and hold fundraising events. To oppose these presidents and represent their constituents instead kisses these goodies goodbye.
So we have a classic grass roots populist struggle here, folks. There will only be one winner. And the special interests don't aim to lose. They will pay whatever it costs to buy their influence. It remains to be seen if the grass-roots folks will pony up to the table and scare the hell out of the politicians.
Here in Georgia we have Bush/Rove clone, Senator Saxby Chambliss, who has made a Senatorial career out of representing the Bush administration. He replaced Max Cleland, who was beaten in large part for his shameless representation of the national Democratic party at the expense of his state's interests. We have swapped one party clone for another. Chambliss needs to hear from you. You need to ask him why he will not represent Georgians. Why has he sold us out?
Republicans have a higher duty to police their own party than do the Democrats. It is Republicans who claimed to be fixing and improving this situation, and yet have only installed their own version of representing special interests. The people know. They are very angry. And they are going to make their anger known.
The political earth is moving. Those at the top are usually the last to know.
