TurnCoats Home || About the Georgia Flag - A Brief History || Flagging Reports || HB899 || Save Stone Mountain from Atlanta's Taliban! Flagging Report Sunday May 30, 2004 - Sonny Perdue Flagged at Andersonville Bud Cranford's report Perdue was flagged today (5-30-04) in Andersonville, Georgia.
As befitting a Memorial Service for America's fallen soldiers, it was a very quiet, sedate affair.
Only two of us were present, Ralph Carson and myself.
As I entered the Grounds I was questioned by a Park Ranger as to my intentions regarding this "Protest."
I informed him there was no protest, simply a reminder to Governor Perdue of his campaign promise and that I had
no intention of disrupting the event. He then asked if there would be others joining me, and since I had just
seen Ralph with two 3 X 5 Flags flying from the bed of his truck, I said 'Yes, at least one more.'
Apparently I said the right thing as he let me pass with my flag.
I took a position some distance from the stage but clearly in full view of all the speakers and
was soon joined by Ralph Carson. From that point on we simply observed the Ceremonies while the speakers, including
Perdue, nervously eyed our Flags.
After just under an hour in the hot sun, the program finished and Perdue left to the parking lot
behind the stage. No wave goodbye or cordial welcome from him today.
As Ralph and I left the park, many persons stopped us to thank us for being there and congratulated us
on our efforts on behalf of our Confederate Heritage.
Apparently, littles elves had been busy lining the road, both North and South of the Andersonville
Prison site were a number of signs proclaiming "Punt Perdue", "Perdue Lied" and "Sonny is a Liar". Thanks to all the
elves. Good Job.
